Thursday

9:45. We arrive at what we think is our pitch, to warm up for our first game of the (eXtended) European Ultimate Championship Finals.

9:55. Turns out pitch 3 is actually through the row of trees. With no obvious way of getting across, we end up crawling through briar patches.

9:57. Warm-up.

11:30. Game kicks off against Jinx, from Berlin.

12:45. We win the game 15-7.

12:50. Jinx brings us gummy green-and-red men from Germany.

1:10. Charlie and Lily take a short break for an interview with Blockstack.

2:40. Game two begins, against Sweden’s E6.

2:51. Our zone proves to be very effective in shutting their offence down.

3:20. Having raced across London after a meeting at work, Whitney arrives on the pitch.

3:50. We win 15-3.

4:20. Free tea from the Lookfly tent!

6:30. We watch Clapham play Skogs in the show-pitch game.

Friday

8:00. Arrive on the pitches.

9:10. Game against Yaka, from France.

9:18. Yaka goes up.

9:22. We bring it back to 2-2.

9:35. We call a time out.

10:15. Having pulled it back, we win the game 15-6.

12:00. Fresh off the plane from Washington D.C., Alia arrives with her suitcase.

12:50. We pull the disc to Viima, from Finland.

1:00. We discover that Viima really like the long plays.

2:10. We win another 15-6 game.

2:11. We’ve made it to the quarter-finals!

5:00. More free tea, plus Jenga, in the Lookfly tent.

Saturday

10:00. Arrive at the pitches, despite the fact that it is now nearly impossible to cross the road from the tent to our fields.

11:00. Game against Holland’s Primavera.

11:50. We win 15-5.

11:51. Semi-finals, here we come!!

4:30. Semi-finals against Hot Beaches, from the Czech Republic.

4:47. Hot Beaches through a tight zone, but we move the disc around patiently.

5:15. Half-time. The score is 8-5.

5:30. Some brilliant hucks. The score is 12-6.

5:50. We win the game, 15-6.

5:51. We’re in the finals!!!

6:00. We stand on the sidelines to watch a very tight game between our GB rivals, Leeds, and the EUCF title defenders, Woodchicas.

6:05. Leeds score, bringing the game against Woodchicas to 9-9.

6:06. Jackie checks the pitch map to make sure she knows where the finals will be.

6:20. On game point, after a missed Callahan, Leeds take the game.

6:21. We begin the long process of mentally preparing ourselves to play against Leeds.

6:25. Leanne and Fran take a break from the mental preparation to be interviewed for Blockstack.

Sunday

11:30. We gather behind the ice-cream van to warm-up.

12:50. Game against Leeds begins.

1:00. We go 2-0 up.

1:20. The score is 3-2 to Iceni.

1:25. Ridiculous layout from Charlie.

1:40. Half-time. The score is 8-5 to Iceni.

1:45. Ridiculous layout from Fran.

2:10. The score is now 11-10 to Iceni, in a very, very tight game.

2:20. Cap goes at 12-10.

2:35. The score is 13-12, game to 14.

2:40. Di hucks to Whitney in the endzone.

2:41. Skying two defenders, Whitney snatches the disc

2:42. ICENI ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS!!!!
